What To Consider When Buying Laptop Computers
Laptop computers are now becoming more popular than desktop PCs. They can be found in most people's homes and offices. They come in a host of different sizes, shapes, and colours to suit every user's demands and requirements.
Of course one of the main reasons for buying a laptop is their size. They can range in weight and size from the ultra thin to more regular sized options. If you need a laptop to carry with you when travelling or commuting then the lightweight portable models are perfect; for those people who are going to leave theirs at home then the larger sizes can give a better experience.
The price of laptop computers varies greatly. You can pick up a system for as little as a few hundred dollars or spend a few thousand dollars on a top of the range machine. It is easy to check on the internet for the latest models and prices.
Due to their size laptop computers cannot always give as powerful a performance as a desktop PC but there are models available with dual core and quad core CPUs or processors which will now give a comparative speed. Every year new laptop processors are released that give a greater performance.
Memory, or RAM, is another important factor. The operating systems and applications that are used today require a system with a lot of RAM. No longer is 512MB or 1GB adequate, you should have 2GB RAM as a minimum or even think about the 3GB or 4GB models so that you wont have to add more memory at a later date.
Depending upon the size of the laptop, the resolution and screen size can also differ. Some people prefer a widescreen or a regular size. This depends on how often you will be using the system and whether you plan to watch videos and movies. If it is for everyday use then a small screen size may not be so suitable.
The smallest laptops will not have a DVD drive or burner. This is why they are so light and thin. If you have an extensive DVD collection then you could choose a slightly larger model or use an external DVD drive.
Overall it is important to choose a laptop depending on whether it will be used every day or just as a secondary system.
