Desktop Performance in a Laptop Body – the Toshiba Tecra A10
If you are looking for a computer that provides the same features and functionality as a desktop computer, but want a laptop instead, Toshibas Tecra A10 just might be the answer. The Tecra A10 was designed with the traveling business user in mind, but all users will be more than satisfied with this model. Whether you run your own business, travel, need a spare laptop around the house, or need a computer for your form room, you will find what you need in the Tecra A10.
With a weight of 6.2 pounds, width of 13-inches, depth of 10.4-inches, and height of 1.5-inches, there is nothing - physically - different about this laptop. The Tecra A10 has a 15.4" monitor, which happens to be widescreen and offers a resolution of 1680 x 1050. Even the suggested retail price of $1,249 is average with competitors in the mid-size laptop arena.
The internal workings are what make this laptop so impressive. It has a Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 200GB HDD 7,200 rpm, and 4GB DDR2 SDRAM. The Intel Core 2 Duo processor is what makes this laptop powerful enough to perform like a desktop. The graphics card, in the Tecra A10 is also impressive - nVidia quardro FX with 256MB of video RAM. This particular model comes with Genuine Windows Vista Business (32/64-bit), and the proper media to downgrade to Windows XP Professional if you so choose.
Bluetooth connectivity has become increasingly popular, and it is available on the Tecra A10. This allows consumers to connect, from the new Tecra A10, directly to other Bluetooth devices like cell phones. Other wireless options are also available: IEEE 802.11 n (draft), IEEE 802.11g,?IEEE 802.11b; therefore, you are not limited when it comes to connection options.
The integration of an External Serial ATA port (ESATA), allows users to transfer data at rates faster than USB 2.0 ports will allow. Additionally, the Tecra A10 has many power management features, which make the laptop EPA Energy Star compliant.
Other features, like a built-in webcam, microphone, and USB Sleep-and-Charge, give consumers the flexibility they need with a laptop. While traveling, take advantage of the Sleep-and-Charge by charging your USB devices, even if the computer is powered down. The combination of webcam and microphone allow you to have face-to-face conversations with co-workers, friends, and family from nearly anywhere.
The integration of Toshibas 4th-Gen EasyGuard Technology - along with a fingerprint reader - provides consumers with padded security. Not only is your data secured, but the 4th-Gen EasyGuard Technology also protects the Tecra A10 from falls and severe bumps as well.
Unfortunately, the battery life, on Tecras A10 default battery, is not as impressive as its specs. An average laptop battery only lasts a few hours anyway, but this particular battery will not compare to others. The purchase of an additional or larger battery is highly suggested.
When it comes to a computer most consumers want functional, fast, and productive - the Tecra A10 offers all of these in a compact design. All users - business and personal - can benefit from the features and overall performance of this laptop. It is a great addition to any home or office network.
